About this Toolkit

The aim of the AITT is to collect all the information you need to identify an insect and put it into its agricultural, biological and ecological context. In contrast to many other internet sources, I have added citation and references to books and printed literature, which is very often the source of choice to solve specific taxonomical problems.

The AITT focuses on Africa and Eastern Africa but many websites provide information on a global scale. Even some websites for Europe or the Americas are useful to help in identification. So they have been included, too. This Toolkit is not the first of its kind, you will find many others on the following pages. The most important - in my opinion - are those under "Essential websites for additional information" and also "Portals".

This African Taxonomy Toolkit would not have been possible without many and essential contributions by a great number of fellow scientists and I am very thankful for their support (please read here). The web and science are very dynamic and there is a good chance that I have missed something. So, please do point me to any publication or websites you like to have added. Any improvement is welcomed!
