Find everything on African Insects you want to know

About this Toolkit

The aim of this Toolkit is to collect all the information and even more that you need to identify an insect and put it into its agricultural, biological and ecological context. In contrast to many other internet sources you will also find citation and references to books and printed literature, which is very often the source of choice to solve specific taxonomical problems.

This Toolkit focuses on Africa, especially Sub-Saharan and Eastern Africa but since many groups of insects have a world wide distribution, it is useful to check also European and North American weblinks.

Naturally, this Toolkit is not the first website on insects, you will find many others on the following pages. The most important - in my opinion - are those which are grouped under "Essential websites for additional information". These websites host a wealth of information and it is always a good idea to check there for additional information.

This project is not meant to be the final word on African Insect Taxonomy but should develop over time, when new publications and new websites become available. Please point me to any other important source I have missed so far. Any hint for improvement is welcomed!

This African Taxonomy Toolkit would not have been possible without many and essential contributions by a great number of fellow scientists, please read here...
